bmay6262 0 Posted October 10, 2015 I replaced the hard drive 2 years ago and it worked perfectly after that now the system won't record anything, I can veiw the camera's but not record so I tried to format the hard drive and it gets all the through and tells me it can't be formatted, does this mean I need a new hard drive again ???? myiicu 0 Posted October 12, 2015 2 years is not bad for a cheap unrated hard drive. If you want reliable, get a rated hard drive like Boogieman said... Rated hard drives cost more, have higher MTBFs and better rated components that can handle the heat and continuous operation. Also, you can try formatting that failed HD on another DVR or PC to confirm that it is NFG and not your DVR... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
