Javik 0 Posted October 15, 2015 Has anyone had any outdoor winter problems with PTZ cameras without a cover over the moving camera head? I'm in northern Wisconsin where we sometimes get freezing rain and temperatures down to -40 C/F. Do these exposed PTZ moving heads tolerate this or do they literally freeze up and quit moving until the ice melts or temps rise? ssnapier 0 Posted October 16, 2015 If it is rated IP66 that will keep it dry. If you are concerned with the gears becoming frozen I strongly recommend doing two things. 1. Make sure the camera has a battery backup 2. Set a guard tour so that the gears are working regularly If you have even half decent equipment this should not be an issue, but the reason for the battery backup is to make sure that the camera can continue the guard tour.
