SDN-520P

1/3" Sony Super HAD

480 TVL / 520 TVL (B&W)

410K pixels

0.01 LUX (B&W) 0.5 Lux (Color)

S/N Ration 48dB

SCC-B2391P

1/3" Sony Super HAD

540 TVL / 570 TVL (B&W)

470K Pixels

0.06 Lux (B&W) 0.3 Lux (Color)

S/N Ratio 50dB

I haven't personally used either, but from the specs I think you came out good. They both are pretty similar (specs) although the 2391 has higher resolution and pixels and I think is newer than the 520P. Oh, and the 520P is a Samsung/Techwin camera, the 2391 is just samsung.

Does anyone know if the 2931 is a 'true' day night, this is an important factor as it may sway the decision depsite the specifications?

Which one would you choose? (Have the option of returning the 2931 and ordering the 520p)

The spec sheet on the 2391 says:

Day/Night Function-AUTO/EXT(SCC-B2391P Only)

Can't find anything stating it has a IRCut Filter, but what does AUTO/EXT mean?

Ok, the 2391 does have an IR Cut Filter.

Direct from the manual:

DAYNIGHT Selection Switch

If you set this switch to AUTO, the DAYNIGHT function will be automatically

activated according to the illumination. Under poor illumination, IR Filter will be

automatically eliminated in the black and white mode(BW Mode) to raise the

sensitivity but under good illumination, IR Filter will be automatically inserted in

the color mode(COLOR Mode).

IR Filter responds to the preset Duration Time (Delivery Condition:10 seconds).

When you convert DAYNIGHT in the AUTO mode, you shall set Duration Time

as follows. (Please turn off the L/L switch and the AWB switch to begin with).

Whenever you convert the DAYNIGHT selection switch from EXT to AUTO while

you hold on to the INC/DEC switch, DURATION TIME becomes 10s, 30s, 60s,

90s, 120s, and 150s in sequence. Upon setup, you shall cancel pressing the

INC/DEC switch to save the setup condition in the camera. Upon saving, the

DAYNIGHT mode will be automatically converted depending on DURATION

TIME even in the event of POWER On/Off.

For resetting, please repeat the above procedure. (Upon resetting, you may r

eturn both L/L and AWB to the previous condition.)

If you set this switch to EXT, COLOR/BW Mode varies depending on the external

signal input to the DAYNIGHT external signal input port().

If the other one is Samsung GVI then its just an OEM like a COP camera, so I would choose the Samsung Techwin Camera for sure.

the 520 is a well known proven camera and has been around for years, ofcourse its been upgraded over time to various versions. I would buy the GE or Extreme Day Night box camera myself if we were chosing name brands, but the Techwin unit would still be on my list as a decent day night camera.

Hi Guys,

thanks for the prompt replies. The camera looks exactly like the pic above at the back. It has the IR switch and all other inputs the same.

Its a proper samsung branded camera but not sure what you mean by GVI?

Samsung GVI uses mostly cheap OEM cameras, they are a US company with the Samsung Name (long story behind that), Samsung Techwin are much better Cameras. There are several Samsung Companies and they are all different. There are typically just the 2 CCTV Samsung Companies.

Lets put it this way, you could probably get the same GVI camera under the COP name for 1/2 the price.

if you have the other one use it. Are there any other choices besides Samsung?

If not, then get the 520 as its a proven high end Day night camera.

GE KTC-2000DN ...

But since you are in the UK Samsung Techwin will be your best bet.

Samsung GVI is in the US BTW .. GE will cost too much on your side ..

Your pretty much left with Samsung Techwin or Bosch in Name Brand for the UK and that price range.

GVI is the distribuitor of Samsung Electronics for North America.

Techwin OEM products from Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers. You can find their Dome keyboard in D-Max web site, their SDC-415 is made by a company called Sicam in Korea

Samsung Electronics is manufacturing all the product they sell.

If you go to Korea headquarters you will find Samsung electronic engineers working on the products GVI sell, you will not find any techwin or Samsung 360 products or Employees.

If you go to the oficial Samsun Electronics website you will find ONLY the products that GVI distributes http://www.samsung.com/ click on "Security"

Both GVI and Techwin have their independent own web sites.

GVI sells two kind of items:

1.- Samsung Electronis products, ISO 9000 Quality

2.- GVI branded products, low cost OEMed products.

GVI OEM the products Samsung electronics is not manufacturing, example: IR cameras.

GVI branded products part numbers start with GV-XXX

Samsung Electronic products start with SXX-XXX, example SCC-931T

SSC-B2391 is a brand new camera, recently launched, is understandable having few experts giving early reviews.

It is a true Day night.

Sony CCD

No, this camera can't be found in COP or other similar brand.

This camera is not an OEM.

Good specs features this camera:

- Buil-in Ground isolation transformer

- Dual Voltage

- More than 50dB S/N ratio

- HIGH resolution

Don't let the low cost to confuse You Jigs.

Unit is ISO9000, UL, CSA, CE approved

More expensive cameras ara available in Samsung Electronics line, if you want to pay the premium for an OSD help (On Screen Display)

More Samsung Electronics distributors can be found in other regions of the world.
