is200se 0 Posted October 28, 2015 Hi, I require a 32 channel ip camera system. The current system is outdated 20 channel analogue system and the business owner would like extra cameras and a high res solution with a reasonable cost. Requirements: 32 cameras, high resolution, clear audio is also required The solutions i have in mind are Hikvision tribrid system 8124hghi-sh 24ch- with 32tb storage - this will allow the original cameras to be replaced with turbo cameras and the extra 12 cameras can be ip cameras. The only drawback being this system is limited to 1080p Hikvision NVR - 9132nist - with 32tb storage - the advantage being here is the system records upto 5mp, the drawback being the current 20 analogue cameras will require rewiring. Or rather than using a NVR, use a PC with ivms software, and use ip cameras, if required we can purchase a turbo dvr as well which will literally be used for this pc to connect to and record all the turbo hd channels directly on the pc Are these the best solutions, or are other options available, is there a major difference between 1080p (2mp) and 3mp, as a 2mp turbo camera with varifocal lens costs 50% the price of a 3mp ip camera with varifocal lens. SunnyKim 2 Posted October 29, 2015 It may not be easy to manage out 32 Channels of 2MPs, not even 3MPs, 4MPs, to come.... But true is that the image sensor is the same for 16 MPs and 720P. Google out & Read "OV16880" from OmniVision. I mean True Resolution Fidelity is the same. But camera makers know they can get more money as numbering of mega pixels gets higher. But the back end processing for those higher number of Mega Pixels would be overloaded and unstable for a limited CPU capacity(NVR or PC), presenting lots of troubles and challenges. My opinion is to start with 720P(1 MP camera), already very cheap. Or you keep posting this topic for the advices from the right persons who already experienced with similar systems, say, Avigilon, AXIS, BlueIris, etc.
jeromephone 6 Posted October 29, 2015 I would consider how much storage you are going to need and figure how you are going to deal with that. Also I would look at solutions that don't overtax the CPU as 32 cameras will put quite a load on a Pc or NVR. I would look at some of the higher end systems milestone. Avilion, Axis as these systems are designed for the larger installs. The cameras you choose may have less to do with your success that the software you use. Take into consideration the status of your network switches cable etc can they handle the additional traffic?
