pinging/monitoring IP cameras remotely

My goal is to have instant (within 30-60 minutes) notification when a camera or wireless device in the system goes down.

 

Is there a service or system available that will ping all camera devices at a customers location continuously or on a schedule? I am looking for something that can monitor 100+ sites belonging to different clients.

 

Alternatively can we get a managed switch on site to ping all devices, then notify us via email of any faults?

 

Any ideas?

there are probably lots of Network based tools that would do this job, found this from a quick googling:-

We looked at ihiji and it was a little more expensive due to their hardware and licensing fees.

 

We are currently testing monitor.us and it looks promising.
