hollyoaks777 0 Posted November 3, 2015 Car keeps getting damaged neighbours too. Is it against the law to put fake cctv camera pointing into the street?
the toss 0 Posted November 3, 2015 Every locality will differ but it is generally accepted that there can be no expectation of privacy in a public place.
Boogieman 1 Posted November 3, 2015 If its fake its a non issue...the problem is the fake camera wont help deter the criminal activity...Get a real camera.

Then it's classed as covert ........ Just put camera up Where are you located Hamilton UK. It's not on record all the time only when motion is detected. If that makes any difference I can set it to an area I want to be notified i.e. the car but it doesn't work. It shows everything and neighbours houses. hollyoaks777 0 Posted November 6, 2015 Yes I know the area well DPA is a little different in Scotland than England but it does not concern your needs You are not breaking any laws on installing your camera Really the police said that I am not allowed to. But I don't think they know the law, they said that I am filming without their consent. Yet your allowed to do it with your phone out in public areas. And it doesn't matter that it looks on to the street where neighbours houses are?
tomcctv 190 Posted November 6, 2015 There is no act If the camera is on your home then it is not covered You do need DPA if your are a business corner shop or petrol station Also which is why I said DONT put signs up ....... This will make your camera public and not private There are 1000s of private people putting cameras up on there homes Don't look at making your own camera complicated Just use your camera as intended which is to watch your car that is all you need. No point sending you DPA rules as your not registered and not needed

As it looks onto public road and takes in neighbours front houses too. Just to be extra sure. So I don’t look like an idiot when Police chap my door, and tell me to take it down, or even worse confiscate it!
