PKL-Lap 0 Posted April 11, 2006 Hey People Needing some advice; I'm planning to connect three cameras 12v 100mA to one 12v 400mA power supply. Which method is best in terms of current/power flow; PS []----------------- cam1 | |----- cam2 | |----- cam3 * Running one length then splitting 3 towards the end of cable run after 20m PS []----------------- cam1 -------------- cam2 -------------- cam3 * Running short length (.5m) then splitting 3 torwards the end of cable run (20m down)
VST_Man 1 Posted April 11, 2006 make sure you have enough mA.you stated 400 for all? that maybe too low for all 3 camera's and the loss you'll get on that cable. as far as the best method of splitting, combining? 18guage is recommended for power. I would run one length and connect them as need along that length. KISS, as you cable run is not that long anyway. more wire always adds up to more resistance/load.
