mstan87 0 Posted November 12, 2015 Hi guys, I have a number of Analog cameras which are connected to an Avigilon system through the use of Fiber media converters at the camera (BNC to Fiber) then to the CON which we convert back to BNC from fiber and into Avigilon encoders to connect to Avigilon NVR over IP. The Fiber is single core. Now, what are my options regarding cameras? Would HD-SDI work across this? Cheers
myiicu 0 Posted November 13, 2015 The Avigilon encoders supports analog composite video only. Maximum resolution 720 x 480 NTSC @ 30ips http://4a54f0271b66873b1ef4-ddc094ae70b29d259d46aa8a44a90623.r7.cf2.rackcdn.com/assets/Uploads/en_US/datasheetENC-4P-H2.pdf HD-SDI uses BNC connectors as well but is serial digital and differs greatly from analog composite video. You might be able to find a HD-SDI to IP encoder, but if you factor in the costs, getting IP cameras and upgrading your fiber interface will cost less in the long run... mstan87 0 Posted November 13, 2015 No worries, appreciate the quick reply. Looks like it will be best to replace the single core fiber with CAT6 and just run IP Cams. May awell do it properly then. Thanks

Thanks Probably the use of IP media converters over the existing fibre might be cheaper than replacing cable. A professional approach would be to use a new network switch with multiple SFP ports Regards Ilkie
