Jasper 0 Posted April 12, 2006 It will have an IR filter to filter out IR light when in the COLOR mode to keep the colors from distorting. The filter is removed when the camera switches into BW mode. There is a lot of posts on this subject I am surprised you didn't run accross any. Welcome to the forum.
jisaac 0 Posted April 13, 2006 jasper, dont forget a significant cost difference.
Jasper 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Oh I haven't forgoten that, but I should have probably mentioned it. True Day/Night cameras cost more money, quite a bit more. Don't go cheap though. If you can't afford a Day/Night than use a BW camera.
jisaac 0 Posted May 14, 2006 here is 2 shots with a true day night and a so called "day night" camera. But as you can see a true day is much much better and sharper

jisaac 0 Posted May 14, 2006 ya there is no mistaking a true day night over a psuedo day night. Well like we always say, "you get what you pay for". i have always loved a good bw image. they look so crisp.
rory 0 Posted May 14, 2006 ak, what system is that from? IP camera? I see itsa 960x image .. thanks Rory PS. heres an example of a 380TVL OEM bullet camera without compression .. doesnt match the ones AK posted but makes for a comparison .. PC based .. captured at 720x480 in AmCap. (only sees at night if you have alot of light BTW) Nothing like a decent BW camera .. or even a decent True DayNight Camera .. also, this is an image that shows the mechanical IR Cut Filter, on an Extreme CCTV camera. Its the piece on the right with the 2 windows, that slides across . Day Night Dome (no IR Cut Filter but its not looking at any foilage) BW and Color Dual Camera with IR ... Jasper 0 Posted May 15, 2006 Wouldn't that cause the Forum screen to move way off to the right? Maybe you can zip the file up and post a link? I would be happy to host the file for you if you don't have a server to host the file.
