Audio interference on one channel of security DVR

Recommended Posts

I could use a little help with this issue. Today I installed a second TV/Monitor thru a HDMI splitter to my security DVR. On one channel I get a crackling audio when the one camera image is the display. When I switch to 4 camera view the noise goes away.

I have 180 feet of the thin factory BNC and power cable going to the camera. It is my longest run with the factory cable.

Is the camera or the cable the likely cause of the problem? I have longer runs, but RG59 cable in those.

Is the camera that has the crackling audio a camera that has audio built into it? If not, then turn off the audio in the DVR software for that camera.

thanks....No audio in camera........

Hi. You have made your own post a bit confusing

You give all details about the camera and cable type and length

And then say no audio at camera ?

Do you have a mic (audio) or does your monitor just pick up sound ... While it is connected to your splitter

I think that he just confirmed the fact that he didn't have audio connected for that channel. Having audio turned on in the software will give you a "hiss" in the audio. I just had one of my customers come to me for the same complaint. He inadvertently turned the audio on for one of his camera's and had a "background" hissing noise for that channel.

I disconnected the splitter....Had the same audio crackle. I moved the camera from channel 2 to 12....same problem. There are no audio cables connected on the back of the DVR. The run to the monitor in question is about 60 feet and has the HDMI cable with the chip set to assist with signal loss. So, I think it could be the cable to the monitor, the cable to the camera. The image is very good quality.

Any more suggestions?

Temporarily hook the camera directly to the back of the DVR and eliminate the camera cable as the issue. Switch monitor locations and see if the "crackle" is still on the long HDMI run. If it is, then it's more than likely your HDMI extender cable.

Thanks again......I will get to it within the next few days. I can eliminate the long HDMI cable as the source as it only happens when camera 2 is on full screen. None of the other cameras on full screen cause the event.
