George 3G 0 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi all, I'm at a bit of a loose end trying to work out exactly what I require to complete my install. I have two Hikvision cameras that I'm going to mount on the soffits and then route cables into the loft space where my Synology NAS will be sitting. I'd bought two POE injectors but I have only just realised that my NAS only has one ethernet port, so am I right in thinking I will need to do the following: Mains ethernet plug plugged into router in hallway Mains ethernet plug plugged into ethernet switch in loft space NAS plugged into ethernet switch in loft space 2 x Cameras plugged into POE ports on ethernet switch loft space. Lastly, if I want to connect a camera at a more remote location without using wifi, can I just buy another mains ethernet adaptor and plug it into that to get it to communicate with the NAS? Thanks! SynologyHosting 0 Posted December 15, 2015 Hi George Don't understand why you need ethernet switch in loft space if you just want to connect Synology there. You two POE injectors should be connected to your local network via switch/router As long as you connect your Synology to your local network via cable/wifi, you can start to get data from your Hikvision cameras. Good luck!
