mortix 0 Posted December 13, 2015 Hello! I want to start by saying I am completely new to CCTV and just started researching on the subject. One question I could not find an answer on the internet is: Can I set up a DVR surveillance system with IP cameras without a router? As in, just plug the Ethernet cable directly in the DVR? Also can I set everything up in DVR without a PC, only using the mouse and remote control on a TV? The problem is, I don't own a laptop and I can't just pack my PC and go there with it. I do have a TV there and access to the internet. Thank you in advance!
tomcctv 190 Posted December 13, 2015 Hi. Yes you can set one up you will need a NVR that has built in POE something like a dahua or hikvision system .... Or any system and use a switch The only problem you will have is setting up remote view if you needed that option ..... You will need to do some port forwarding if you don't have a system that can auto do p2p On dahua all is needed is there QR code to set up ... So no need for a PC But you can also do port forwarding using a iPad or tablet or smartphone if you have one
