IrkenElite86 0 Posted December 15, 2015 Access control and CCTV are placed all over the facility. my manager insists that I use the swipe card readers and CCTV cameras to determine if staff are coming to work on time. This isn't just a once in a while thing, he insists on it being done daily. However, he doesn't tell the staff or the owner of the building that this is his intention. I feel as though this crosses a line with the Privacy act of Canada, however, i'm not entirely sure... would anyone here on this forum be able to help me? ssnapier 0 Posted December 24, 2015 I am not sure about Canada, but I know that down here the employer must disclose the use of these types of systems for timekeeping. I am fairly certain that it also changes the amount of time that the data from those systems must be retained since it now becomes something that can be audited as part of any contract review, revenue or income reporting, or even Government taxation type audits. jeromephone 6 Posted December 25, 2015 Other than a check against the payroll system we have never used an access control system for payroll. As the previous poster said there are different reporting and record keeping requirments for payroll than for access control. Most system use the same card but not the same software/hardware
