you just want to see the truck and car right?

 

Thats about 60' from the camera location to the truck?

 

A UF100 840nm with 60 degree beam would be around 80' approx, and cover around 3/4 of that image .. You will get alot of glare bouncing back from the cars but you could adjust it just over the top of them so the IR beam bounces on the lawn behind the car .. that would let there be just enough extra IR on the car and truck but should cut down the glare .. but with the UF100 you need their power supply. Optionally you could use the 940 .. i just dont know the exact distances at your location .. the UF100 840 is a very "far" beam .. you can also cut it back more by using the taps on their power supply .. i dropped mine back from 80' to around 60' (840nm)..

 

The Ex26 may work but here are the specs (no special power supply needed) ..

 

approx 60-80' with the 30 degree and 840nm .. so cut that back to 40-50' with the 60 degree .. and even less with the 940nm ...

nope, the street sign and the milk can are 60ft away. I'm looking to see anyone messing with the cars and the area this side of it on the lawn where the other camera is aimed now.

ok in the following images .. the cottage is approx 60' away from the pole.

This is a UF100 with 840nm and a 60 degree beam .. notice the glare on the cottage before I adjusted the Power Supply Taps, which basically just drops the power to the IR .. images are solarized so you can see the IR Beam.

 

I will probably be switching to 2x EX26's (60 degree) actually as the UF100 is still too powerful. The Camera lens is set around 3mm. You can see it looks pretty decent solarized but normal it is still too much light IMO, which is reflected off the white walls of the cottage and the bush. Obviously the before image, without Tapping, would be perfect if the cottage didnt exist ... but then the whole point is to see the cottage

Basically it is shooting the beam 100+' which is way further than the cottage.

When you are looking to use 2 ex26's are they going to be in different places or in the same location aimed at different spots?

In my case then the ex 26 would not be strong enough particularly using the 940 spectrum and the uf100 would be too much. Correct? so you are saying I need 2 additional sources of IR, one for the cars and beyond and one for the front lawn. you don't think one source aimed at the lawn would give enough for the cars as well without overpowering it?

ill be using them on the same location, though I have a "bush" issue that the client doesnt want to cut down and it grew up in front of the the right side view of the camera, so Ill probably mount the other IR on the other side of the bush so it doesnt get blocked as it is now ..

 

anyway .. here is a better example of the UF100 .. with a car parked in front of it .. remember this is 840nm, 60 degrees, Power tapped Down .. also remember my lens is wider than yours. So 840nm wont be as strong, or will be AS strong but then you can still adjust the power supply taps to drop it another 20% or so .. you could point it above the cars so it doesnt glare right on them and some IR should light up the cars still.

 

also in your case you could point it on the road and that should produce a decent image .. there is also the UF500 but that sucker will be way too much IR, there is a UF300 in the UK but not on this side as far as I know.

I contacted Extreme and explained the situation and asked them the approximate ranges of the ex26LED and the uf100 using 940nm. They REFUSED to talk to me because, "I was not a dealer and they did not deal with end users directly."

To say the least I am not exactly happy with that answer. Tech support???

 

Does anyone have other products that they could recommend using this range of IR?

Sorry I can't remember now, was a little ticked off. first contact was with email to Zarah Megerdoonian to put me in contact with the NY area rep. on the 17th I was then contacted by Candice Hart for more info right after that; and today had another rep. call me to tell me what I wrote before.

Your IR distance was mainly reduced from going with the 940nm filter.

 

Again, Rory your advice was dead on to the tech's. As well as cooperman and others. Thanks for the info, contact, and continued support.

His answer and advice is:

"Although great for covert applications, the 940nm filter on all illuminators lets less light through and therefore reduces the overall distance significantly. All distances are quoted in 730 or 830 nm wavelengths.

 

To answer your questions. Yes the camera will see IR at the 850nm. So using a EX26LED850M (30 deg) IR illuminator will be a nice IR booster and would get you the illumination you're looking for. An EX26LED940W (60 deg) or EX26LED940M (30 deg) would not get you the distance you're looking.

 

The UF100.404 (60 deg 940 nm) should get you the distance you're looking for. You'll need a dedicated power supply as well. Either the UFPS.101 (120 vac input) or the UFPS.124 (24 vac input).

Another great solution for you would have been the EX30MNX or EX82 Integrated Day Night cameras with IR"

 

Now I need to decide which way to jump. Whether to continue to go with the more covert route or let the more noticible glow show.
