tdk1988 0 Posted December 30, 2015 I need to design a 24 cameras IP CCTV system. Around 8 cameras will be at a distance of 160Mtrs from the NVR what type of Optical Fibre Cable and Media Converter (Multimode/ Singlemode) shall i use. I i use Singlemode Cable will i have to lay a pair of singlemode cables from the NVR to the POE Switch of the 8 CCTV cameras.
Securame 0 Posted December 30, 2015 Do you HAVE to use fiber? With just 160m I think you might even be able to use one long run, if you use a good Cat5e/Cat6 cable. I would test it. I think 160m without POE should not be a problem.
tdk1988 0 Posted December 30, 2015 Ive searched up google for the limit of CAT6 cable transmission and it shows 100Mtr maximum
Securame 0 Posted December 30, 2015 I am sure you can do way more than that.
tdk1988 0 Posted December 30, 2015 i have to do this for a public sector indertaking so going against the norms is a no go as budget us not a problem.
Securame 0 Posted December 30, 2015 I am just doing a copy+paste: According to IEEE 802.3 the max segment length for 100baseFX link is 400m for half duplex . See clause 24.1.2 of IEEE 802.3 2000 edition I really don't know where you read the maximum length for a network link is 100m, but I doubt that is the case. tdk1988 0 Posted December 30, 2015 I read that on the cat6 wiki. Can i get a pdf/ screwnshot you copy pasted tgat from that will help. Also the system integratoers from dahua and bosch said the same.
myiicu 0 Posted December 30, 2015 Veracity makes good Ethernet/POE extenders. http://www.veracityglobal.com/products/ethernet-and-poe-devices/outreach-lite.aspx http://www.veracityglobal.com/products/ethernet-and-poe-devices/outreach-max.aspx Check the POE (Watts) requirements/specifications of your cameras as well... Securame 0 Posted December 30, 2015 Yes, so you would have a 160m network link, and then an 8 port POE switch. But feel free to go fiber if you prefer doing so.
ssmith10pn 0 Posted December 31, 2015 You don't have to worry about lightening with fiber. I would use 62.5 Multi Mode with 850nm SFP modules, and switches with SFP slots. Media Converters is just another part to fail. What kind of environment would the switches be in?
tdk1988 0 Posted December 31, 2015 Wall monuted racks and the cable goes through a playground. What type of cable are you suggesting multimode or single mode? Does a single mode cable works in full duplex mechanism i.e. single cable for recieving and transmitting. What is the price difference between media converters and switches with SFP slots. Please provide a product name so i can see the specs and details.
