FlaxSeed 0 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi All, We moved into a place with a dvr and four camera system with BNC connectors. One camera has two adjustment hex-key things on the bottom, it seems one is focus and the other zoom. I am having to climb a ladder, make an adjustment, climb down, go inside and repeat until zoomed and clear focus. I quit that silly game real quick. Is there some way I can connect directly to the camera while up the ladder? I have a win8.1 laptop with VGA and HDMI inputs if that is any help. Thanks
Securame 0 Posted January 19, 2016 You can with a tester or any monitor that has analog input; you can't with your laptop, unless you buy an analog to VGA converter (video grabber). But anyway, if I were you, I would not want to be up a ladder with my laptop... Easier way out if this is going to be a one time thing, get someone on the other end watching the monitor, and give them a phone call. Or use a pair of walki-talkies. aibudo 0 Posted January 19, 2016 Definitely, if you don't have the DVR connected to a network, do what Securame suggested. Of course, if the system is connected to a network, you can use a smart phone.
FlaxSeed 0 Posted January 19, 2016 I would not want to be up a ladder with my laptop Thanks for the help. Point taken, but it is only a 10" one so easily managed, but moot. The other thing is having just moved in (out in the boonies) I don't know anyone to ask to help. Also, the system does not appear to work with a cell phone. Have not found the DVR for a model number yet. Was told it is in the Attic, but there is none, so I assume he meant the ceiling crawl space. Since writing this request I have remembered I have a small (3" or 4") LCD screen I bought for a car reversing camera and it has RCA input. I will try finding that as it also has the standard looking 12vdc input connector as the camera. Thanks to you both.
