Looking To Catch Vandalising Neighbours

Recommended Posts

Since my neighbours moved in 10 years ago both my wife and I have be subjected to the wonderful experience of house parties starting a 3am with thrash metal and drum & base being blasted out, rubbish being dumped in out garden, numerous punctures, tyres slashed, keying of every panel on our cars resulting in a full respray, mail taken, parcels taken (my wife runs a marketing business from home) and mindless vandalism to our garden. The list goes on.

We have documented everything with the police but lack "actual physical evidence", well enough is enough.

I have been looking for a discreet camera with motion detection HD-IP and night vision as after some reading I am lead to believe this is where my money is best spent.

I think I have found a nice kit that has a camera with a 92 degree viewing angle from a company called HDCCTV.Co.Uk - https://www.hdcctv.co.uk/products/hd-ip-cctv-security-cameras-nvrs/complete-high-definition-ip-cctv-security-cameras-hd-ip-kit/hd-ip-cctv-kit-1-camera-external-dome-1080p-varifocal-xipk1vvp1080.html

I'm hoping this will be enough to get us started with the option to add more later down the road should we need it. Any thoughts an opinions are most welcome.

Thank you for reading.

Thanks for the info and pm. Are they compatible with OSX as apposed to Windows as I am Mac based. Also, are the all in one kits reliable? Obviously if it goes wrong you have to replace the whole thing where as if part of a separates system fails you just replace that part.

Also, are the camera specs of the kit I initially linked to the same as http://www.networkwebcams.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=2359

I am commenting on your desire that the camera be discreet. I use cameras in my retail store and I use the opposite strategy. I want the cameras to be easily seen. I want people to know that big brother is watching. I am hoping that the threat of the camera will deter bad behavior.

Also, even with infrared night vision, often times the picture isn't that great. Its better if you can light the area with flood lights if possible. That way the camera will stay on color mode, not go to black and white.

Thanks for the info, if possible I want to catch them doing it a few times then will pass the footage straight over to the Police. With our case history/documentation over the years I wouldn't mind seeing them hang!
