Pentax H10ZME-5F Zoom Lens -

Hi all,

 

I recently purchased a used Pentax H10ZME-5F Zoom Lens.

 

When I look in the objective end of the lens there are round white/gray/black concentric circular rings which cover 1/3 of the field of view. Looking through the camera end of the lens the white/gray/black circles cover the entire field of view. I have visited a couple of stores and nobody knows what it is. I am assuming it is some form of filter, but its about 80% opaque.

 

I haven't set it up yet as I am waiting for a mount for my camera so I don't know if this 'filter' will obscure the image.

 

Does anyone know what it is and it purpose?
