I am currently operating a Axis PTZ IP camera, to a cradle point and an air card, with a very large and heavy, deep cycle marine battery. myiicu 0 Posted February 14, 2016 A good quality, high capacity lead acid battery will weigh more than cheap low quality lead acid batteries. Lithium batteries will reduce weight substantially but expect to pay much more for batteries and charging/balancing/monitoring circuit... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
zr1 0 Posted February 15, 2016 I do remote installs where there's no power (construction sites, etc.), and use 3 of the 250ah batts in parallel for a 12v system. But it's the lights that take most of the juice. If it was just cams, I could get by with probably 1 batt....it's just a matter of doing the math of the juice-usage...there's calculators on the net. Of course, ya gotta charge the batts periodically somehow...I've been using solar (another pricey set of variables to consider). But on the batt side, they each weigh about 175lbs, and they aren't cheap. LiON batts are lighter...but much pricier. The AGMs work well, but had some longevity issues in the Arizona heat...going to gel has helped a bunch. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
