Lookin for some info on software set up

Recommended Posts

I am new to IP cameras. I know how they work and what can be done with them but I have been hitting my head against the wall for 4 days now.

Here is what I got:

* Escam QF001

* VMS softwae (came with it)

* XMEYE software

* NetSurveillance Web software (IE browser)

Ok, I got the camera up and working, I can see and control the motions of the camera via computer and smart phone.

I have 2 issues that I cannot resolve.

1. Connect the software/camera to my email server to send notifications of motion and pictures

2. Get snapshot pictures stored on my computer or TF memory card (installed in the Escam)

What I cannot figure out is I have setup my SMTP and port locations to the same setting as my email software. Using VMS software I sometimes will get a test good and sometimes it tells me failure to connect to server when I do test function.

I then found the NetSurveillance WEB program for windows IE and thought maybe it would be more friendly. After setting my my net server to the same setting as my email software (SMTP, port, user name, password) it still tells me that it fails to connect to server. When it says test ok, nothing is sent to my email address.

The second issue is I have my recordings set to my computer's hard drive but fail to write tiem there and get error "snapshot failed) on bot versions of software.

Tech support does not exist for these products or software so I am hopeing someone on this forum is using this software and can set me straight...

I guess it would help me to know if the functions for saving pictures in a software or hardware function.

To answer your question:

1. I believe your DVR was originally produced by a Chinese firm called XiongMai(XM). Escam(hilarious name) simply OEMed from XM. XM's email notification suddenly stopped working Nov of 2015. I got no official explanation from the manufacturer beside they are working hard to resolve the issue. So far I do not see any progress. My guess is all major email providers updated their SSL setting last year. And XM could not keep up with their update. I tested this theory by setting up my own email server without SSL. It worked! However, no one want to use email service without security. So I guess email notification is dead.

2. To save snapshot or video on IE, you need to run IE as administrator.

Thanks for the info. I did get the email to work after contacting my internet provider. They suggested I use a different port. That now works for email and sending a snapshot picture when the motion detection is triggered. Now to get the memory card to record and store the pictures....

I will say after 5 weeks of screwing around with this thing I got about 90% of it to work. I can't imiagine some one that dosent have a clue on how things work could get this up and running.

I called my provider and explained to them what I was trying to do and what was happening. My email uses port 995, which did not work for the camera. They suggested port 587. That did the trick for me. Hope that helps. Another thing that is not explained to you is the RAM card. I have not been able to play video back to my computer from the ram card via wireless connection. I do not know if it needs to be hard wired for this option of playback or need to remove the chip and plug into a computer. Tech support is very sketchy.
