Hi, I've just purchased the above, and I'm trying to connect directly to the IP camera. I've got a Netgear 8 port switch that connects directly to my laptop, and I try inserting the ip address (192.168.1.64) into the browser, but I get the 'page can't be displayed' message. The Netgear switch is used as the POE source for the camera.

 

I've run the SADP software and set a password for the device, I've been able to view the camera when it's connected to my BT home hub, but I'd like to connect directly to my laptop as I want to test the camera in it's intended location.

 

any suggestions would be gratefully received as I'm new to this and not to sure what I'm doing!

Use the SADP Software to set it to a fix IP.

e.g. 192.168.1.64

 

Configure your laptop to the same subnet with a different Ip addrss

e.g. 192.168.1.100

Connect the Laptop to the IP Camera using a Cross network cable, or using a switch.

You'll be able to type in 192.168.1.64 on your browser to view the camera

 

But if you are using a switch, you might just want to use a router instead. Cheap router cost abt the same as switch.
