glw1975 0 Posted February 28, 2016 Hi, I've just purchased the above, and I'm trying to connect directly to the IP camera. I've got a Netgear 8 port switch that connects directly to my laptop, and I try inserting the ip address (192.168.1.64) into the browser, but I get the 'page can't be displayed' message. The Netgear switch is used as the POE source for the camera. I've run the SADP software and set a password for the device, I've been able to view the camera when it's connected to my BT home hub, but I'd like to connect directly to my laptop as I want to test the camera in it's intended location. any suggestions would be gratefully received as I'm new to this and not to sure what I'm doing! many thanks. Daryl733 0 Posted March 2, 2016 Use the SADP Software to set it to a fix IP. e.g. 192.168.1.64 Configure your laptop to the same subnet with a different Ip addrss e.g. 192.168.1.100 (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/how-to-assign-a-static-ip-address-in-xp-vista-or-windows-7/) Connect the Laptop to the IP Camera using a Cross network cable, or using a switch. You'll be able to type in 192.168.1.64 on your browser to view the camera But if you are using a switch, you might just want to use a router instead. Cheap router cost abt the same as switch.
