scubasteve776 0 Posted March 4, 2016 I will be running cat5e to the camera locations through my attic and pass though my soffits (I think they are aluminum) I will then use Baluns for the power and coax connections to my cameras. The problem that I am running into is that I want to terminate per code and I don't know what that is. I also want the passthrough from the soffit to the camera which will be mounted to the side of the house, to look professional. Do I need to have a waterproof box in the soffits? This will need to be a old type work box as I have gutters and don't have full access to the soffit areas to add new work style boxes from above the soffit.Has anyone used the Cam-Box from arlington? http://www.aifittings.com/catalog/security/cam-box-kit-for-security-camera-installations/Would this be too much weight on a vinyl or aluminum soffit to support? Do I need a box at all? Can I terminate the cat5, connect the baluns to the camera and use heat shrink to protect the ends, then passthrough a plate screwed to the soffit? If I can use a plate without a box, I could use these instead. http://www.aifittings.com/catalog/security/cam-kit/ Any recommendations or ideas on the products and code for this type of termination would greatly help. GH75 0 Posted March 8, 2016 If you are mounting the camera under the soffit I suggest you drill up into the soffit, pull your cable down and terminate, then push it back up into the soffit. It's not going to get wet.
