Securame 0 Posted March 9, 2016 You are right, if he has no audio in or only one audio in, it is time to change DVR.
SeattleBrian 0 Posted March 9, 2016 smcctv, I assume this is an IP system? Not analog? A) Connecting microphones to the NVR is an option. The input will be associated with a camera, so that audio & video for that camera channel are recorded together. My NVR has a single audio input, and it is associated with camera channel 1. Not configurable. B) Connecting a microphone to an audio-capable camera is an option. Or buying a camera with built in mic. In both cases, the audio is then recorded with the correct video. ie: The audio is encoded into the IP data stream from camera to NVR. Considerations: External mics usually require a power source. My POE camera with mic needed a cable for 12V, sorta defeating the benefit of POE. Mic location, sensitivity, background noise, etc.
