looseparts 0 Posted March 12, 2016 The cameras we're thinking of buying have external mic ports. My assumption is that the sound will be recorded along with the video via the Ethernet cable back to the NVR - Is it a safe assumption that the file being recorded will have sound as well as video? Thanks!
GH75 0 Posted March 12, 2016 Yes usually the video will have sound. Make sure the nvr accepts sound and on how many channels
jeromephone 6 Posted March 13, 2016 check out how that port is supposed to work if the microphone requires power you may still need to run a seperate cable. Also the NVR may have a audio input other than sending audio over IP. You should try and get a manual for the camera.
Lorgan 0 Posted March 16, 2016 You can just buy IP cameras with built-in mic. Usually, the audio will be encoded together with the video. BTW, you need to pay attention to the camcorder of audio. Good luck.
