alex_409 0 Posted March 16, 2016 Hi everybody! Im setting up my home with cameras outside -all around my home -with a zmodo DRV. I,ll be looking around for how to select cables & such that will survive outside in all weather conditions without spending a lot of money. The Zmodo cables are very thin & cheap. I want to remove the BNC connectors off the cameras and possibly run a 3 wire cable for power & video. Thanks for Looking!!
NetTech26 0 Posted March 16, 2016 I would run an outdoor rated CAT6 wire to each camera and put a Balun on the cameras/DVR. That way if you ever upgrade to IP cameras, you already have to proper wiring. Also, on some baluns, you can run power over them as well.

I had to google baluns. can I run the 12v power through the cat6 wire or do i need a separate cable? -alex
