Dynamic DNS and network question

Recommended Posts

Please could anyone give me some advice to the problem I have below. I have a Trendnet NVR-104 and a Trendnet IP-311PI camera.

I am using a Dynamic DNS service and set up a host name Myhostname.ddns.net

Then I have forwarded the NVR Port 80 (ip 192.168.0.50) on my router

I have also forwarded the NVR camera stream port 554 (ip 192.168.0.50) on my router

I have NOT forwarded the camera which is on ip 192.168.0.51

If I use a PC on my LAN and log in via internet explorer using http://myhostname.ddns.net it logs into the NVR and works perfectly.

What I cannot understand is why it logs me into the camera (and not the NVR) when I use a web browser outside of my LAN (my works PC) using

internet explorer and http://myhostname.ddns.net

As I have not forwared the camera ip only the camera stream on the NVR could anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

Daz

Try canyouseeme .org

This tests if your internet service provider is blocking ports you are using to log in from outside the LAN

Hi RonR

Both the ports 80 and 554 are open and check out fine using your link.

I can log in from outside of my LAN, but only to the camera not the NVR.

I have not forwarded the camera IP which is what is confusing me.

Cheers
