jweaver 0 Posted April 7, 2016 I am in the process of building a TVI Hikvision CCTV system (DS-7208).. I currently have a 100Mb Ethernet (using my old 100M swithes) to the area where the box will live, and was only planning on using the LAN connection for monitoring and playback from one device. But I am now thinking of adding 1 or 2 IP cameras too.. Is 100Mb OK for this? Or should I think about upgrading my switches to 1Gbit? Jon
Daryl733 0 Posted April 7, 2016 It really depends on the bitrate you set on your IP cameras. 1 to 3 Megapixel IP camera uses around 3Mbps (lower or higher depends on your setting). 100Mbps switch more than cater for the bandwidth. The DVR doesn't support anything higher in resolution anyway.
Securame 0 Posted April 7, 2016 100mbps will be more than enough.
