Improving CCTV Motion Detection using PIR?

My house has an outdoor 6 camera hard wired ip cctv setup that gives false alerts. From what I've read on this forum an external dedicated PIR motion detector is the only solution. However I'm new to this and having trouble figuring out if this is something I can do with my system and how to accomplish it.

 

This is what I have installed.

PVR: EasternCCTV 16ch ED9516NV-8P (http://goo.gl/Q29c9M)

Cameras:

3Mp HD IP Camera | IP-IRD3E02-W-3.6MM-2 (http://goo.gl/rYLSE1)

 

Currently using an app called SuperLivePro. I have it set for least sensitive and even tested just monitoring a piece of the grass and still getting constant emails about nothing. Should I also be trying different apps or is that not a possibility with this PVR?
