Can a smart tv access dvr

I haven't had much experience with smart tv's so I was wondering if they had a built in Web browser since they access netflix,Facebook ,etc I thought u may be able to access the dvr somehow since they share the same network

Most DVR's web browser required a plugin installation.

 

Unless they are streaming in pure HTML5 (even flash is being phased out), not likely they can work with your smart tv.

Haven't seen any system that stream in pure html5 yet, some of them do javascript snapshot updates.

Since it appears that these smart tv's come with apps pre-installed,

I wonder if you can Install the dvr manufacturer's app like gdmss or ivms4500

and access it that way .

Hi. The easiest way is to use Apple TV box or Comcast and send it to tv from smart devices or PC laptop

I'm not familiar with apple tv box but I will Google it and research .

I thought Comcast was a catv company . my customer/friend has

direct TV for tv and Verizon fios for internet and phone and a Samsung

Smart tv that's 2 or 3 years old

FYI :

I installed a hikvision ds7308hqhi hd-tvi dvr in a closet where his electric , catv, tel ,Internet, directtv

All terminate on the back east side of the house and the den tv where he wants to view cams is on the

Front west side of the house .I would have to run a 100' hdmi cable exposed around the outside of the

house and drill 2 large holes to get the hdmi plug through .customer not too fond of the exposed wire

And big hole idea .I have the bnc spot output hooked up to an existing rg6 to the TV but the pic is not

very good especially compared to the 1080p picture on the monitor at the dvr .

Hi. Your right no customer likes wires.

 

If this install is for a house then I would go the simple way and do HDMI over power

 

It works just the same as Ethernet over power .

If you want mouse control as well your looking at $150

You can use a HDMI Extender.

If your TV's using standard android OS, try installing iVMS-4500 from the appstore and let us know if you are able to configure it.

 

Avigilon's a brand of Network CCTV Equipment.

You'll need to change all your system to Avigilon, and recable to IP Network. Different from Analogue HD Cabling.

They should make a hdmi cable that has a straight in line plug

I remembered that my dad has a Samsung uhd 4k smart tv .I just connected it to his wifi .

I couldn't find the playstore app or search but it does have a website browser .I entered my

Customer's ip address and the hikvision sign in screen came up .for a second I thought I

was going to get lucky but after I entered my user name and password it said I needed to

Download a Plug in just like daryl said .it didn't say what plug in or how to install it .

Dad came home and wanted to watch his tv so that's as far as I got .I will play around

With it tonight after he goes to bed .

I'm guessing that you can't install a plug in to a smart tv browser or if you can it will not be

Compatible .

Sorry for the delay but my customer /friend had some health issues and I have not been able to

I remember coming across a thread here where they were talking about some kind of modulator

That you could hook up a dvr output to this modulator thing and hook the modulator to the incoming

Catv b4 it splits and then you can view the dvr on a spare tv channel .

I'm not sure exactly what it's called but It would have to accept hdmi or the spot output of the dvr

And would have to work on directv. I don't know if they make something for this exact application or

The cost of this product .

Also , is anyone familiar with the quality of this video at the TV display ?

Is there differences in quality from brand to brand ?

Is there a certain spec to look for with this product besides the obvious 1080p output ,hdmi input and

Directv system ?

I think this may be more in my friends budget .I don't know if

The picture will be better than the bnc output over coax but at

least you can view the cams on all the tv's.

I did find a modular hdmi cable system but again it was too

Expensive for my friend .

They do have a few tablets so I may try and link one to the

smart tv like tomcctv suggested .

I still have not been able to get back to do anything because he

Herniated 2 discs in his back and has not been available.

I am still wondering how difficult it would be to install the plug in ,

Ultimately I think I will be running the 100' hdmi cable. It seems to

be the cheapest solution for my friend and probably the easiest for

his family to use .

I just installed 1080P TVI cameras with a Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH DVR and like many others, my wish is to be able to view the cameras on my Samsung 'Smart' TV's. The DVR has been successfully integrated into my local network via a cat6 cable to my fios router.

Like everyone else, I can access the Hikvision login screen on my TVs by entering the IP address but the screen wants me to install the plugin which, of course, won't install on the Samsung TV. A simple solution would be to hard wire the DVR to the TV's but that is impractical in my situation (multiple TVs on different floors).

I'm wondering about an HDMI to TCP converter. I could run the HDMI output on the DVR to the converter and then the Cat6 or 5 output back to my fios router. From the few converters I've seen, they output a static IP.

Wouldn't I then be able to enter the IP address of the converter on my Samsung TV's web browser and view the DVR output???
