Thinking about upgrade for Hikvision V5.3.0 build150513. Is anybody tried to do that ? I'm a bit afraid might something go wrong ... Any suggestion welcome. 51cent 8 Posted May 22, 2016 Hikvision firmware upgrades have been partially done to thwart grey market sales of Chinese cameras.Google a term like "Hikvision firmware upgrade failure" and see the problems caused.If you must upgrade the firmware, get the firmware from where you bought the cameras. It's not recommend to upgrade firmware from unknown/unauthorised sources, especially for HIKVISION, Dahua, etc equipment purchase online from internet vendor or OEMed equipment with different brand on it. Most of the online vendor from china sold local china sets loaded with international firmware either through normal or with a bit of tweaking. For OEMed equipment, sometimes they have different hardware and firmware customised for the vendor, and the equipment might not work well with the standard firmware from the manufacturer. Read around the forum and you'll find many cases where users bricked their equipment with wrong firmware or have the whole system menu changed to chinese sets after loading new firmware. If you are going to try, HIKVISION does provide firmware downloads on their website. http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/download_89.html The newer firmware on equipment from authorised channel does comes with an update button. Haven't try it out yet, but by right it should load in the correct version of the firmware. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
