ocar_mike 0 Posted May 30, 2016 Hey guys, so I currently own a gas station that has old lorex system that I bought in 2007 and it's time for me to upgrade the system. I am looking for advice on types of cameras and system from you guys who are experienced in this kind of things. Minimum requirement: 1. NVR 1080p system 16 channel 2. 9 indoor cameras 3. 3 outdoor cameras that also work great at night (license plates, people etc..., just in case if I have a break in) 4. Budget $3000 (prefered) - $4000 5. could record (motion) for atleast 3-4 months. 6. mobile viewing any help is really appreciated.
jeromephone 6 Posted May 30, 2016 Kind of general info Use the proper wire if using cat5 or six do not use cca. If coax get proper rated. check local and state electrical codes on installing outside cameras on pump islands. There are often regs on how the conduits must be firestopped etc. Use outdoor rated wire if anything is going to be exposed. Be aware that capturing license plates is a whole seperate operation often needing special cameras and software. Whatever equipment purchased be aware of warranty policys, returns, and repairs. Is the supplier going to be around in 6 months when the first problems begin to appear? Harddisk cacluators are just best guess type of things. get as much disk space as you can afford and you may still have to adjust frame rates and quality as experience dictates mobile viewing is usually a standard feature on most newer NVRs. If budget allows get a spare camera it seems whenever we did gas stations convience stores there was always an area that got overlooked on the initial install.
