GH75 0 Posted June 6, 2016 99% of our installs are Dahua. We are looking to expand out of that and get into the higher end market. We have a client with 100 + cameras IP, CVI, and analog with nvrs and DVDs throughout the building. It's 50 + stories so we have nvrs/ DVRs throughout connected via fiber. All DVR nvrs and ip cams are dahua They would like to add facial recognition. The good thing is they know it's new to us so are willing to work with us. The goal is to to build a database of people who have been asked to leave, then get notifications when they re enter the bldg. Will the dahua ip cameras work? We expect to install some new ones so we have a head on shot as people enter. Is there a way to have a system monitor these while still recording on an nvr? Or do these cameras need to be on their own system? Any pointers or vendors to start talking to would be great
skomo 0 Posted June 6, 2016 OK so here is my $0.02 on facial recognition, its not worth the money... But here are some helping questions and comments... What is the budget ? How many cameras will have face recognition running ? Is there onsite security monitoring the camera feeds to deal with the alarms generated (false or positive) ? What is the realistic budget ? What is the accuracy of the system you want to achieve ? 100% is not going to happen! What is the budget ? I've recently trialed a system. Separate analytic servers were required (generally around 3-15k per server hardware cost only). Only 4 cameras max per server. Then you need to pay for the face recognition software on top... Do the math... what is the realistic budget ? If they say over 25k then you are on the right track. http://www.cognitec.com/ http://iomniscient.com/ http://security.panasonic.com/products/wv-asf900/ http://www.3vr.com/products/videoanalytics/facialsurveillance There are 2 links for 3rd party face recognition and 2 links for inbuilt NVR/DVR face recognition. Hope this helps...
GH75 0 Posted June 6, 2016 No budget discussed yet. I can not discuss budget until we have some solutions in mind. I know the client is going to ask me how much and what are the expectations, then seek approval. But he is highly interested. Yes they have a full time security staff and they have a video wall where all the cameras are monitored. Currently they have a wall of photos of individuals that have been asked to leave, and have trespass warrants issued against them, meaning if they come back, they go to jail. The security officers watch the cameras and if they see one of these individuals, they call another officer on the floor to respond. The business is a large one, located in the heart of downtown, open 24/7 and they get a lot of nuisance individuals, mostly homeless Ill check out the links. What solution have you found to work the best so far? I looked at http://iomniscient.com/ and they have a starter pack. They also have some form of mobile app. That would be pretty handy if all the security staff could get instant notification if a labeled individual entered the bldg. skomo 0 Posted June 8, 2016 No budget discussed yet. I can not discuss budget until we have some solutions in mind. I know the client is going to ask me how much and what are the expectations, then seek approval. But he is highly interested. Tell the client he wont get much change from $30k and see what his response is. If he thinks thats ok, then look at the market to what is out there. Otherwise you will be just wasting your time. What solution have you found to work the best so far? Facebook. They have massive server farms that can slowly scan all the photos that are uploaded. And all the images, the faces are looking at the camera and have a clear in focus shot. CCTV Facial Recognition uses cameras that are generally setup for overview, faces don't look at the cameras directly and lighting plays havoc with the scene. From the system I tried and tested (I wont name it for certain reasons) I wouldn't recommend it. Waste of money.
thewireguys 3 Posted June 9, 2016 I don't have any experience with FST yet but I have heard good things. Might want to reach out to them. Facial recognition is not easy and there has been a lot of people have that have been burned by companies that over promise and under deliver. Make sure you do a pilot at your site to test in your environment. http://fstbm.com/
ericq 0 Posted June 9, 2016 There is also Herta Facial Recognition System which last time i checked on it was roughly $8-10k a channel. http://www.hertasecurity.com/en/products/biosurveillance-en or -- NEC's NeoFace - http://www.nec.com/en/global/solutions/safety/face_recognition/NeoFaceWatch.html
ssmith10pn 0 Posted June 18, 2016 Notice that all the samples have straight on eye level shots. So you have to create choke points for all pedestrian traffic to pass through and get high resolution shots of 100ppf or more. Plus lighting has to be perfect. I have a customer covering 3 turn stiles with a 10mp camera. That's 3,648 pixels on 12'. That's 304ppf and you can't make out the first face because there isn't enough light. Light is very important. ssmith10pn 0 Posted June 18, 2016 I went to The Wire Guys link and noticed the camera placement on the turn stiles.
thewireguys 3 Posted June 19, 2016 I went to The Wire Guys link and noticed the camera placement on the turn stiles. I think that is integrated into Genetec for access control.
ssmith10pn 0 Posted June 19, 2016 I think that is integrated into Genetec for access control. I believe your correct. Pretty sweet if it's reliable.
