nutshellml 0 Posted June 22, 2016 Afternoon all, I'm starting a small remodel and wanted to take advantage to add some cameras. I'm pretty sure I know what general type, HD IP POE bullet outdoor cameras (was looking at Hikivision from eBay, thoughts on that?) As for the indoor, I'm not sure what do to as far as brand and if I need audio (1way only). I would like the indoor to be the least obtrusive as possible, assuming Dome type, thoughts? If any other brands to look at please let me know, I'm looking to keep this mid-range, under $100 a camera definitely. Finally as far as the build, going with BlueIris and a dedicate computer for that. Regarding running the CAT6 and the POE injectors, where on the line of CAT6 do they need to go? Does it need to be close to the camera or can it be closer to the switch? Thanks in advance! Matt
quadraTomic 0 Posted June 23, 2016 $100 a cam? Wait a while and get something a little better. ACTi is a good brand; Milestone for the VMS software. The 2016 version only uses a fraction of the computing power the older versions did.
nutshellml 0 Posted June 23, 2016 So you wouldn't recommend a Hikvision? 3M fixed? That goes between $80-125. I saw the ACti's go for $250+ on average. That's alot more that I was looking to spend. Again it's residential mounting under the awning and want to be able to cover wide angle and minimum of 40 feet to sidewalk.
SunnyKim 2 Posted June 23, 2016 IP camera could cost more than U$100, a piece, letting alone the software cost. I would recommend HD-Analog cameras of HD1080P resolution, costing less than U$40, a piece and with its corresponding DVR.

nutshellml 0 Posted June 23, 2016 I'm not wanting to buy a boxed security system from Costco. I want a step up. On same note, I don't want to spend thousands. I'm pretty tech savvy and want to set up my own system and know that I can get a better system than a boxed system without going to the extreme. I thought 100-125 per camera plus blue iris would be good way to go.
