wheaters64 0 Posted June 25, 2016 hi I have a 4 ch swann dvr (bnc ) and want to update to an 8 ch (cat5 digital) connection dvr I have seen balun connections etc , would they work to convert my connections ? I don't really want to buy a whole new set of cameras as the 4 I have in place are fine plus its a hastle to re route all the cabling as they are all at a my roof level and cabling is through my loft space . I would just buy 2 new digital dome cameras they will be at lower level i.e door entry height etc. thanks in advance for any help given p.s I'm in the u.k. topchips 0 Posted June 28, 2016 Good day You will need to get a DVR that can take analog and digital (IP) cameras, Balun is used on analog cams when you are using cat5/cat6 (network cable) with your installation, IP cameras use a normal network connection with RJ45 connectors,a switch and POE for power (easiest) , I would suggest a Hybrid or tribrid DVR , eg: the 4 or 5 series Dahua DVR's : DH-HAC4108C-S3 (not sure whats available in the uk) Please let me know if you need any more info Regards
