Sh2015 0 Posted June 27, 2016 Hello, I have a 8CH DVR with 8 Cameras installed to the power supply. Yesterday all the camera weren't working and I noticed that there was a ticking(?) sound from the power supply. I noticed that the DVR is working since I am able to see the settings and etc but no images would show nor it records. I'm assuming that there is something wrong with the power supply. I have used really old cameras for about 4 years before upgrading to this HD TVI-IRD2M42VF G2812E cameras and the contractor who were installing the cameras for me told me I could use the same power supply from before since it has the same output as the new one. this is the camera I'm using currently and the powersupply looks similar to the one I have posted, not sure about specs. I just wanted to know which power supply would suffice for the new cameras that I have installed and wanted to confirm on this forum that it is indeed the power supply that's giving me trouble. Thank you very much for your time
topchips 0 Posted June 27, 2016 Good day We usually recommend 1Amp per camera depending on the amount of cams and cable length's, it does sound like your PSU is faulty, for 8 cams you can use a 12v 10AMP psu which does look similar to the one you have posted, you just need to check the specs, also check the polarity of that camera make sure your positive is on positive and negative on negative, if they are the wrong way around you can get that ticking noise Regards
Sh2015 0 Posted June 27, 2016 Thank you for the info. Turns out that it is the PSU that caused the problem, after replacing the PSU all but one came on. Everything works fine but one shows as video loss. Will check the cables and the camera to see whats the problem.
