Simple Multi-site surveillance system

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I want to design a robust CCTV system for my client, I have mostly done single site with remote monitoring.

But now I have a requirement of multi-site remote monitoring with local recording and no static IP at sites or HQ.

They have about 25 stores in a city and most have existing systems, some IP, some Analog and multi-brand set ups. We need bring all systems to same platform or if possible hybrid setup. Each site would have 4 to 12 cameras. They would also want an app for mobile devices for surveillance.

Please suggest a complete system which could do this without much complication.

Two important things:No Static IP at sites or HQ and local and remote recording possibility.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sandip

I suggest testing iSpy . It's free, open source and has a large list of compatible devices, both DVRs and IP cameras. I tested it briefly, it worked OK, but haven't checked all the features.

Other solution is Milestone. Very powerful, full of features, but also very, very expensive.

Lack of static IPs is no problem, use some commercial DDNS service for all sites. Dyn.com is the most popular, $40/yr for 30 sites and available on practically any device on Earth.

Good luck

yes to above.

Each site will need a network DVR/NVR model so it can be accessed remotely.

And if not included with that brand of DVR/NVR a DDNS account, Hikvision offers free DDNS for its recorders.

A DDNS is an internet address that doesn't change, so the DVR/NVR constantly "checks in" with the DDNS site, DDNS site "saves" the IP address the DRV/NVR check in on, so non-static IP address is always updated to current address.

You go to the DDNS address for that site from a remote location and it forwards you to current IP address of that DVR/NVR, seemless

I use ivms 4200 because I use Hikvision equipment mostly, it will display up to 48 cameras on one screen.

Client software allows you to log into multiple sites at the same time, then pick and chose cameras from each site to be displayed on one screen, iVMS also has video wall option.

The location where the client software is used does need some good bandwidth/speed relative to the number of cameras that are being used.

Static IP isn't needed.
