New Camera System, Need Advice

Just purchased a home that is pre-wired for home security cameras, and I am very new to this. Each camera location has both cat5 and RG6 cables wired. Anyone know the reason for both sets of wires per location? I am looking to have 4 outdoor cameras linked to a recorder that is also connected to internet for remote viewing on phone apps. Any recommendations on camera brands or recording device brands are appreciated.
