Suggestions on an inexpensive PTZ camera?

Hi,

 

I have been enjoying my setup for a while. There is one section of my yard that I would love to be able to view left & right a little bit more than I can right now.

 

I think the PTZ camera might do the trick for me. Or if there is such a thing as a left/right camera (turning). That would work too.

 

My dog loves to sit on her rock in my front yard & the camera is pointed at the front door, the only problem is that it is about 10 feet shy of where I want to point the camera.

 

Anyway, any suggestions for a ptz camera would be appreciated. This is an outdoor application at my home, so it doesnt need to be the best ever(its really a doggie camera).

PTZ cameras are quite a bit more than regular cameras.

 

What kind of budget range are you thinking about?

Oh, btw, can I control that with the Geovision 900 (and the Geovision software)?

$500 is not enough for a good PTZ. A budget PTZ will start around $1200. You will often times save money with 2-3 fixed cameras on a corner of a building compared to a single PTZ camera.

If you only want it to move left to right ..thena pt control head is all you need, buy one second hand for under that price, but in reality, you money would be better spent buying a full PTZ cam

I will spend more if i have to. Since this is a PTZ for home usage, I cant do multiple cameras (the boss aka wife said not a chance for more than 1 at that spot).

there are quite a few that will work with Geo, but myself I use the GE (Kalatel) PTZs ... they have a really good keypad controller also, though you can use the Geo Software to save that extra money.

cyber domes are ok, but I would go for the one that has the most warranty as there are a lot of moving components, i have used the Merit Lilin ones and they are ok, but low warranty and have seen some needing maintenance, the Bosch Autodome is quite reasonably priced, you will need low light because you will be zooming and therefore affecting the light coming into the camera.

Thats the pendant mount, which hangs from say a ceiling. Its 18X Day Night.

I used one before as they sent the wrong model, and we used another brands wall mount. The actual camera itself is the same, the mount is the difference.

 

If you want the wall mount 18X Day Night, it would be the KTA-C3-D1C.

Personally I wouldnt buy anything like this off Ebay, but thats up to you.

I cant imagine it still has any warranty at that price, more than likely they have had it for a while even though they say new in box.

I dont know the Pelco Domes, but they dont list a model number and so it could just be an OEM Dome that uses the Pelco Protocol.
