RabidDonkey 0 Posted July 26, 2016 Hi folks! New to the cctv world and was wondering if my plan/idea will work with the type of nvr and IP camera choices. Like most people I have been reading these forums for weeks now and decided to register. Lately my lawn ornaments )yes as stupid as it sounds) have gone missing aka stolen in the middle of the night. I am sick of replacing it so I figure it's time to get s home security system. For warning I know nothing about cctv. I do have knowledge in photography and computers so I so understand/grasp some of the description stared in the IP cameras/nvr. From my understanding it's better to build one then by a kit Criteria: high quality picture, cost, night vision, distance. I rather spend less if possible if I can get as good of a quality though also know you get what you pay for at times (this why I can't make a decision) Want anywhere from 4 to 6 cameras and spend probably a $1,200 including NvR. Now 2 cameras will get morning to almost all day direct sunlight and has a steet light at night. the back 2 cameras for the backyard will get shade/sun and almost complete darkness with the expectation of a street light in one corner. The 2 in the front will be covered via porch and will get sun/shade and light on the porch. So these are my thoughts (no I am not affiliated with this company..it was the website I chose when I googled the cameras I was interested in). Thinking http://www.cctv-mall.com/dahua-ipc-hdbw5421e-z-dahua-ipc-hdbw5421e-z-4mp-full-hd-wdr-network-vandal-proof-ir-dome-camera-ipc-hdbw5421e-z 3-4 for the side and back of the house since it has WDR Think 2 of these 3.6mm fixed lens (or would 2.8mm be better) with WDR for the front porch http://www.cctv-mall.com/dahua-ipc-hdbw4421e-dahua-ipc-hdbw4421e-4mp-full-hd-wdr-network-vandal-proof-ir-mini-dome-camera-ipc-hdbw4421e Or this too http://www.cctv-mall.com/dahua-ipc-hdbw2300r-vf-dahua-ipc-hdbw2300r-vf-3mp-full-hd-water-proof-vandal-proof-network-ir-dome-camera-ipc-hdbw2300r-vf ________________________________________________ For NVR I am thinking http://www.cctv-mall.com/nvr4432-4k-dahua-4k-nvr4432-4k-1-5u-network-video-recorder-with-onvif-2-4-support-4hdd-dahua-4k-nvr-network-video-recorder-nvr4432-4k Or http://www.cctv-mall.com/nvr4408-8p-dahua-nvr4408-8p-8ch-1-5u-support-4hdd-8poe-net-work-video-recorder-dahua-smart-nvr-4408-8p-8poe-onvif-support-up-to-5mp-8ch-1080p-network-video-recorder Or http://www.cctv-mall.com/nvr7408-8p-dahua-nvr7408-8p-8-channel-poe-1-5u-network-video-recorder-onvif-2-0-poe-4hdd-with-1esata-nvr This will be connected to my receiver then 55" tv. I understand that I will have to buy HD so I am thinking of solid HD at least 8TB. Or is there better for cheaper? Other then wiring am I missing anything? Truly appreciate your help, thanks to taking the time to read and respond to this post.

bobarn 0 Posted August 28, 2016 10 TB even for HD seems a lot if you only need it to check for stolen garden ornaments each morning unless of course you are out of town for a week but even then, you could save disc space by using motion detect only.
