gram2six 0 Posted August 16, 2016 Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to help. I am new here and really just need some advice and wisdom. First let me say I own a secluded cabin in the hills 3 hours from my main residence. That cabin was broken into with everything taken and I need to know what kind of cameras to install. I don't want to pay for subscription. I don't have a land line or wifi at the cabin. I only get to the cabin about every 5 weeks so a camera with little storage won't do much good. Is there a camera that I can access from my phone, or that will record onto my home computer? I have researched until I am in a fog and don't know anyone personally to ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I know nothing now. Thanks in advance,
Sawbones 0 Posted August 16, 2016 Can you get a cell signal at your cabin?

Sawbones 0 Posted August 16, 2016 If you have power and cell signal, you're golden. Just get a USB cellular dongle, and a compatible "travel router" that you can plug the USB dongle into (Cradlepoint makes a bunch of these, as do other manufacturers). This gives you a mobile internet setup that connects to the cell network, and allows connectivity to a network camera at the property. Set an IP camera up inside the cabin to detect motion (only do this indoors... outdoor motion detection is false-alarm city), and have it email you whenever it's tripped. Done. anjiaminson 0 Posted August 24, 2016 Friend, My suggestion is, in the first time, you could use your mobile phone hot spot, connecting the internet for your camera and finishing setting. Then though you shut down the hot spot, the camera also would work. The most importance is, your camera need to have something to storage the video. Like TF card/MSD card. Hope it would help you, Thanks Shenzhen Anjia CCTV Minson
gram2six 0 Posted August 24, 2016 Thanks for the reply! What I ended up doing is going to Verizon and purchasing a jet pack to be able to get wifi at the cabin. It uses our cellular plan data. Then I bought 3 small cameras that will only use data when they are activated by motion and will send me an alert to my phone when the cameras detect motion. I can also store video on my computer. We are installing this weekend, so hopefully this will all work as well as it sounds. Keep the fingers crossed!
