lee_horton 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Hi All Newbie to all this security stuff and looking for some help. I'm sure this has been asked before and probably been posted but I can not fine the answer so apologies. I want to add 2 IP outdoor day/night cameras with motion detection to my house but with so many on the market I'm not sure what to go for. I already have a QNAP NAS with surveillance station feature already if it helps. Or is it best to go for a system with integral harddrive / DVR? I can add network cables to each location if need be and power too. I want them as a visual deterrent too so the bullet type or dome would work. Another nicety would be to have messages sent to my phone when something is logged and to be able to view on my phone via app (I guess) to see footage. Any other advice would be welcome. Please fee free to ask me any questions as I'm sure I have missed a whole heap of stuff.
rodrhern 0 Posted October 25, 2016 You are really going to have troubles with the motion detection and outdoor cameras. Any shadow, tree, cloud, will be detected as motion and very quickly you are going to be full of spam, checkout http://get.sentinel.watch for an smart monitoring, not sure if exists other alternatives. About the QNAP NAS, have made a quick google search, seems that the software supports cameras, but I can't tell. https://www.qnap.com/en/tutorial/con_show.php?op=showone&cid=
