can773 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Hello, Hoping someone may have some insight to a problem I have. I have the subject model DVR (its a Dahua model # I think, but nothing is labeled Dahua on the box, so may be an OEM no name), installed by a security company in a new house. They do not have the monitoring contract anymore so are less than willing to provide support, its a long story. A while back, all was working fine, and not exactly sure what happened but there are now 5 out of 8 channels that do not work. They are simply black, no throughput whatsoever. The cameras all work fine if plugged in to the remaining channels that work. If I plug in all the cameras to the channels, the DVR will go unstable and start to re-boot, if I only have channels 1,2,8 plugged in then its stable. I want to try reloading the firmware, however I cannot get it from the security company and am unsure exactly which firmware I should use when searching on this forum, also I am not sure if that will even solve the problem, or if I should simply buy a new box and start over from scratch (cameras all work great). If I do buy a new box, it seems like the one I have is difficult to get, would a different model be a better replacement, if so which one? If anyone has some suggestions to help that would be appreciated. Chad
tomcctv 190 Posted August 31, 2016 Hi. Are all your cameras the same type ? Your unit is a hybrid so will run standard and cvi. If you have a mix then they will not work if the input is not set to the camera format
can773 0 Posted September 1, 2016 Hi yes they are all the same type of camera, and have all worked in the past before we had this malfunction. Is the change in camera type a hardware change or is that done in the software.
