Hi..new to cctv forum..wanted to have info on the cctv

I have a cctv with 3 camera. The dvr is ok. But it's fast forward speed is quite slow. It max fast forward is 8 x. Is it same for all the dvr. Can someone tell me more about dvr and their fast forward capabilities
