TheRock Squirel 0 Posted September 6, 2016 Greetings to all, I have searched the internet for answers but have yet to find any Here is my problem and hopefully someone can help me. I have a LaView LV-KDV2804W1 System with a LV-D1108CW DVR. Many of the email providers have changed from SSL to TLS back in June which creates a problem with some DVRS that only have the SSL option. Therefore email notifications will not be sent to my email address like gmail or hotmail, etc. According to LaView support site they released a couple firmware fixes for the newer DVR models but that's it. It is now 3 months since this change and I have to say it is poor support for customers who travel a lot and rely on email alerts to let them know who is entering their property. I found one google search that suggested to try the local internet provider so I found the info and set the DVR up and it worked perfect for one day. the email alerts came with picture attachments to my iphone when something moved on my property. We thought this was a great work-a-round until such a time when a firmware update was available. It gave us peace of mind for sure. The very next day the email alerts stopped working for no reason. Nothing changed in the settings so I went to searching the internet again. I don't know what went wrong. I called my internet provider and asked if there was a limit to how many emails with attachments could be sent in a day. They informed me there was no limit on my account. I checked the hotmail and gmail accounts and all seemed fine. Note: I have noticed something weird though. My big mercury night lamp that is at the peak of my garage blew about 4:00am a couple mornings ago and I got a tamper alert from the DVR with 3 picture attachments. How the DVR can send that and not send a motion alert email has got me drove crazy. Also sending a test works perfect to email and if I accidentally enter a wrong password in DVR I will get a illegal login alert sent to iphone email. I reset the DVR and entered in all the info properly again and that didn't work Can someone please tell me how to fix the DVR to send email motion alerts with attachments to my email address? Is there a setting that got disabled somewhere I don't know about? I am at my wits end as to why it will not send proper alerts but will still send error alerts. I thank you all for reading my problem and would appreciate any help at all. cheers
TheRock Squirel 0 Posted September 6, 2016 Well it looks like I am stuck with my internet provider if I can get it to work properly again I just received this reply from LaView tech support; Unfortunately we have received word from the manufacturer that our older DVR models will not be getting a firmware upgrade to update the email settings and add the TLS protocol, if you can find an email service that still uses the older SSL protocol the email alerts will continue to work. Sorry for any inconvenience. Regards, LaView Technical Support I bought my system exactly 2 years ago and now that some email providers decide to change from SSL to TLS we are abandoned by LaView. This is very poor customer service I must say. I shall not recommend LaView products to anyone because of this. I hope someone can help me with my problem because LaView obviously decided not to help at all. Thank you
