Zyra Tech 0 Posted June 7, 2004 I bought the 8-cam card through 123cctv just to check it out. By the way, that company sucks big time. The system had great video quality but the internet portion was very finicky. Couldn't get three of the four cams to show up remotely over the internet. When I hit the "next" button the system would crash. I talked with tech support at 123cctv and they acted like I was an idiot and were totally rude. I may be an idiot, but don't make me feel that way!
Thomas 0 Posted June 7, 2004 Good tech support can make all of the differance.
cctv_down_under 0 Posted June 7, 2004 I agree.. far too often I have to tell my Techs that these are security companies not computer companies and they must lower their expectations.
Thomas 0 Posted June 7, 2004 Well tech support for the computer savy and the less computer savy have differant approches. The trick is make sure you look at what dell does and do the exact opposite.

From what I can tell you might find a link between Geo and avermedia. Having used both, there's some striking similarities.
NEVERENDING 0 Posted June 7, 2004 Not to beat a dead horse and I know it will start an argument but Geo really does make nothing - regardless. Just to bring an end to this I will find out where it comes from. There are relatively easy ways to find out from the chip makers we deal with who seem to know everyone. Which was the first way I found out it wasn't there's since no one seem to sell them the components that were on board. Meaning someone makes it for them. Which again is ok and who cares. I know Geo doesn't make their cards. I just meant you will probably find that they both come from the same manufacturer. Edited June 7, 2004 by Guest
NEVERENDING 0 Posted June 7, 2004 at least with the embedded there is no mystery they all buy the board sets from the same 3 places.
ChuckP 0 Posted June 11, 2004 I use the AverMedia boards in 6 locations and they work very well. The geosystem software is much better when it comes to management, however I prefer the remote view client of Avermedia over the MultiCam Remote for Geo. I use a Geo board for my home security. Just last night one of the 6 locations was broken into and the Avermedia system worked flawlessly capturing the burglar. Just logged into the remote DVR, scanner for motion, dloaded the video through the remote playback client, and emailed it to the police, took less than 30min to do all this, and the video was 20min long. ChuckP 0 Posted June 11, 2004 O I also meant to mention they have brand new software out for the Avermedia card, but for some reason its only on their UK site. http://www.averm.co.uk/avermedia/security/downloads.htm there is the link

ChuckP 0 Posted June 16, 2004 Oky their new software 4.3 ticks me off big time. I installed the newest version on a server that is only a 15 min drive just in case, and it would only let me set 2 camera to full resolution. I went back to the old 4.1 and it works fine.
