The way into a lot of systems is usually through someone forgetting to change default passwords giveing out passwords poor security software etc. Take as many steps to block hackers as you can afford and hope for the best. As long as their is a human machine interface their will be problems.

And Hikvision is owned by the Chinese Government.

Chinese Goverment controls many of the Chinese companies (I wouldn't exclude DAHUA, for example). Should've been ok, if these devices weren't online. But most like/need them online.

 

And, on top of that, users like to P2P their video streams right under chinese goverment's nose. Yet, they talk about privacy and security...

True BUT the Chinese government actually owns Hikvision not just controls them.
