Camera replacement Question?

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is my first post here I think because I don’t have a lot to add about Security systems and find myself having to join forums for one time help then forgetting what forums I joined so please forgive me.

Anyway I have two Lorex 8 camera system systems the older being an Lorex LH1888 that I installed around the outside of my house. It doesn’t cover all that I have so I bought another Lorex HD720P that was on clearance last year.

I have not had the time to install the new system yet, but I’m having some problems with my most important camera failing at night. I added more IR lighting everywhere to compensate for the IR LEDs burning out, but I think the problem may be the camera itself going out. I already replaced a camera that was in full sun every day of the year and this camera might be next.

My question is can I replace the old camera with one of the new cameras that I haven’t installed yet?

I just realized that both cameras are 720P, but the new one is HD so I have no idea how that comes in play.

Well I decided to open the box with the HD cameras and decided to give it a try. It turns out that they are not compatible and I only have a black picture with the newer HD camera so I reinstalled the old camera.

I was a little surprised when I opened the newer camera system box because it was not what I thought I bought. I thought I bought a 16 channel system with 8 cameras, but its only 8 cameras with no room to grow. It’s been over a year since I bought it so I can’t even return it.

Sorry to take up your time.
