LittleScoobyMaster 0 Posted June 11, 2006 Just wondering what a good outdoor wireless PIR recommendation would be? I just need one to put outside in the back yard so when someone comes in the back yard, it will turn on a lamp or any other regular standard electrical device that I have located indoors. This one looks like what I need, but I don't trust X10, never have and probably never will, but perhaps that is just because their cameras are junk? Anyone know if the X10 DM10A wireless PIR is good, or is it just as junky as the X10 cameras? Here is a link: http://www.smarthomeusa.com/Shop/Motion/Motion-Detectors/Item/DM10A/ I've read that Ademco makes some nice wireless PIR's, but do they make any that are comparable to the DM10A that work with just a little $15.00 receiver like the DM10A does? I also have a GeoVision GV-600-8. Which GeoVision option(s) would I need to do something similar, or with the GV-600-8, what option would allow me to turn on camera's based on motion detected from a wireless PIR? Is it one of the GV-IO units? I kind of want to do both things. The X10 device seems like a very reasonable way to just have a light inside the house turn on when motion is detected outside, but I wonder how reliable the DM10A really is. Seems very low priced but I haven't tested it so I don't know. Anyone? Anyway, here is another wireless PIR that does something similar: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BHE4AY/002-1012582-1042456?v=glance&n=172282 It's the Carlon HS3605.
