OsiViper 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Ok, i am looking for a good USB DVR I can use.. I need it to be portable so i am using laptop so i cant use a PCI Card. Will only be running 3 cameras so it wont be an extremely heavy workload.. Ive seen a couple of the USB DVR's but with 3 cameras it only ran at like 5 FPS.. Anyone know of a decent one? Thomas 0 Posted June 14, 2006 The thing that kills the USB devices is two fold. One is USB bus bandwith (there just isn't that much compared to PCI) and the second is heat. The reason we killed ours is that they would work fine in bench situations but the moment they get into a warm enviroment they would fail. And people want to car deploy them, they want to boat deploy them, remote deployments all in hot enviroments.
OsiViper 0 Posted June 14, 2006 I guess my only option is to buy a computer and make it into a DVR
Thomas 0 Posted June 14, 2006 We're going about this the wrong way. There may be an easier solution for this. What are you trying to do?
