qman 0 Posted June 6, 2004 I got my hands on one of their cards, can anyone tell me how good they are? I'm going to be testing it this week, but if someone knows anything about them, please let me know here's a link to the company's site: http://www.i-view.com.tw/dvrboard.htm#CP-1404HS-TXP
AVCONSULTING 0 Posted June 6, 2004 I haven't used this one, just downloaded and looked over the manual and it has a lot of nice features. I'd be interested in what you think of the quality of the picture and ease of use. It looks so familiar, I'm sure I've seen another brand use this software but can't pinpoint it. Have you seen it under another name?

Zyra Tech 0 Posted June 6, 2004 It's working. Reduce your IE's security level to "low". It's not a matter of security, it's a matter of the program won't even install!

rory 0 Posted June 6, 2004 rory, did you insatll the "access runtime"? is there in the website. I have access on my system, so I dont think I need it, but ill try it and let you know. Currently, the browser based after restart, I can connect and view video, but then switching to another server, blue screen and shut down. The windows exe connects, then gives me a kernel error. Ill try the run time.
rory 0 Posted June 6, 2004 no luck, I already have DAO installed from office and VB, so its not that. I have some video card driver issues (in need of clean windows install), could be too much for it.
loop 0 Posted June 6, 2004 sorry, I didn't install anything, just went to: http://www.i-view.com.tw/Test.htm and some asian TV programs appeared in the screens
Thomas 0 Posted June 6, 2004 Have you tried installing it with Office Disabled on startup?
loop 0 Posted June 6, 2004 Now installed the client and it works just fine. Same TV programs on the second site, and too dark to see anything on the first one. The compression is nothing special, ~2k for a medium-low quality frame. From a quick glance it seems to have a bad GUI design. I'll look into it deeper later. rory 0 Posted June 6, 2004 Have you tried installing it with Office Disabled on startup? i dont have office open, nor on start up. must use a codec that uses alot of memory. Not a good sign, as not every user will have winxp with 512ddr. im 128ddr right now, 16mb video memory.
loop 0 Posted June 6, 2004 The application is not resource hungry at all, and the video card is not an issue here.

Not a good sign, as not every user will have winxp with 512ddr. im 128ddr right now, 16mb video memory. Not impressed with the demo system at all. Looks very lacking. As far as the software not intalling correctly, that's pretty much a nail in the coffin for me. Everything has to be fluid in the installation from start to finish. Something small like that can kill our installation schedule. I need to be able to have my people go in after the cams are installed and aimed and drop in the server, configure it, and train the client in a short ammount of time. I've found that any problems that come up usually turn a short installation into a full day nightmare.
rory 0 Posted June 6, 2004 must be the software then.

qman 0 Posted June 7, 2004 Damm people, then how come I got the system up and running with no problems? the windows files that it changed was the MPEG4 and Wavelet files. I already sent the factory a e-mail about it, and they will edit the installer to ask you first about installing these particular files. Please keep them coming, I have the system for one more day, since a client came in and saw it, liked it, bought it
